Tokyo 2020 readies for the upcoming ANOC General Assembly in Lausanne

(SFC) The Tokyo bid team is sending a high level delegation to Lausanne this week to attend the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) general assembly in the Olympic capital.

IOC Member and president of the Tokyo 2020 bid, Tsunekazu Takeda, said in a statement today: 

“Following the productive meeting with our international friends at the SportAccord Convention, Tokyo is looking forward to the next milestone of this Bid race. We are delighted to take part in the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees, and it’s always a pleasure to be in Lausanne - the Olympic Capital.

“Just as every National Olympic Committee is committed to enabling top-performance by its team members, Tokyo 2020 is committed to delivering on an ultra-compact Games plan that is athlete-focused. Athletes are at the centre of our plans, and in 2020 we will put the athletes at the heart of our Games, at the heart of our wonderful city.

“Throughout ANOC’s event we will do our best to explain to the 800 NOC participants how Tokyo will fulfil all their special needs, why our city is the best choice and how we can guarantee to deliver superb Games which will promote the Olympic Values for new generations.”

The bid team will include:

Tsunekazu TAKEDA - IOC Member and President of both Tokyo 2020 and the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC);

Masato MIZUNO - Tokyo 2020 CEO and JOC Vice President;

Teru FUKUI - Japan’s Minister in charge of Sports, WADA Executive Committee member;

Yukiko ARAI - Tokyo 2020 International Relations Director;

Rie TANAKA - London 2012 Games Gymnastics Olympian
