(SFC) The “German Award for Online Communcation” was taken home by the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) in the category NGO’s for its communication initiative around the German Olympic Team.
The initiative was centered on a social hub for all the team members and DOSB came up with a claim called, “Wir für Deutschland” which means, “We for Germany” together with Twitter hashtag #WirfuerD. Consequently, DOSB united all the team communication on an individual website, www.deutsche-olympiamannschaft.de.
As a result, fans were able to get a closer look at the athletes and get a firsthand glimpse at the experiences of the athletes during, and in between, the games.
“The DOSB took this award vicariously for the athletes. Their emotional input on social networks is the heart of the campaign,” the DOSB President and IOC vice-president, Thomas Bach said, “The jury emphasized the communication initiative as “very authentic, genuine and sustainable.”
Scarcely 24 hours after the DOSB received the “German Award for Online Communication” on Wednesday, they were also awarded the “PR Report Award” in the category of “Event and Line Communication” for the Welcome Ceremony for the German Olympic Team in Hamburg.
The city of Hamburg organized the ceremony along with DOSB. The German Olympic Team was welcomed back home by 25,000 people after arriving on a cruise ship that was accompanied by hundreds of small boats in the Hamburg harbor.
