Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan holds gala for IOC Evaluation Commission

March 27 – Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, hosted a gala dinner for the International Olympic Committee Evaluation Commission Tuesday night at Esma Sultan Palace. The Commission is visiting Istanbul to see Istanbul 2020’s plans for the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
IOC Evaluation Commission Chairman Sir Craig Reedie, the 14 Commission members, Turkey’s Youth and Sports Minister Suat Kilic, Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas, Istanbul 2020 Chairman Hasan Arat and IOC Member and President of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey Ugur Erdener were also in attendance.
Attendees were witness to the Burca Karadag and Mevlana Dervish exhibition, the Dogus Cocuk Senfoni Orkestrasi performance, a performance from the Civizations Choir Antakya and the Youth Mehteran Show on the last night of the Commission’s visit. Presentations and plans for the Paralympic Games will be shown to the Evaluation Commission on Wednesday, the last day of the visit.
The media were treated to a sunset cruise on the Bosphorus and then dinner at the famous Suada Restaurant on a floating island. Chairman Memet Kocarslan made the rounds to greet everyone and share his support for the bid.
