March 1 – Representatives from the Spanish National Anti-Doping Organisation visited the WADA offices in Montreal to discuss Spain’s anti-doping programs and ways the two organisations can cooperate ahead of Madrid’s bid for the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Spanish National Anti-Doping Organisation Director General Ana Munoz, with colleagues Victoria Ley, Head of the Organisation’s Research Health and Anti-Doping Department, and Guy Vancanneyt, its Planning and Control Director, met with WADA Director General David Howman and WADA Director of Standards and Harmonisation Rune Andersen in Montreal.
“It was important for WADA to welcome the new Director General of the AEA, Ms. Munoz, to Montreal,” Howman said. “We were very encouraged by our discussions and the spirit of cooperation.
“Spain has made progress recently in terms of its anti-doping legislation and anti-doping programs, and WADA will support AEA in any way it can to make sure this progress is maintained.”
Munoz and her colleagues also met with other members of WADA to get feedback on proposals made during the review of the World Anti-Doping Code.
