7 sports make the pitch to the IOC for 2020 Summer Olympics

December 19 - Today the seven sports vying for a place on the 2020 summer Olympics progam gave their presentations in front of the Olympic Programme Commission.
The 12 member commission, led by Italian IOC member Franco Carraro, will then report to the IOC Executive Board at their May meeting with their recommendation of which sport to add. In February the Commission will also have to make recommendations on which sport they think should be axed from the program so they have their work cut out for them.
The seven sports are the merged federations of baseball and softball, karate, sport climbing, roller sports, squash, wakeboard and wushu.
Baseball and softball were both on the Olympic program through Beijing 2008 and then both ran individual campaigns for 2016. Golf and rugby got the nod for the 2016 Games.
Now the two sports have merged in a jointed effort to make a stronger statement.
The final decision will be taken at the IOC session in Buenos Aires in September 2013.
