December 18 - The Russian Central Bank has released the official Sochi 2014 coins that will now be used as legal tender.

There are 700,000 bullion coins in circulation that are square cut and have one of the official mascots, the white bear, on one side and the double-headed eagle on the other.

There are 300,000 silver coins valuing 3 rubles, 300,000 gold coins valuing 50 rubles and 100,000 gold coins worth 100 rubles.

The Sochi 2014 winter Games will take place between February 7-23 of 2014.
