September 5 – The Associated Press reports that the Swiss government has stepped to the plate to pledge support for a 2022 winter Olympics Bid for Davos and St. Moritz. However the two cities will still need to get support from voters in a regional referendum.

AP noted that the Swiss Federal Council says that the $1.05 billion projected deficit from nearby towns should be covered by public funds. And that the executive body also suggested paying half the estimated $62.6 million cost to run the bid and they have asked the federal sports ministry to inform lawmakers.

St. Moritz last hosted the Olympics in 1948, the same year as the earlier London Games, and they also hosted the 1928 winter Games twenty years prior which were the second edition after Chamonix in 1924.

The host city for the 2022 winter Games, which will follow PyeongChang 2018, will be decided in 2015 at the IOC session.
