IOC chief Rogge to receive Giulio Onesti Award on 100th birthday anniversary

May 7 – International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Dr. Jacques Rogge is set to be awarded the Giulio Onesti Award on May 15th at the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) headquarters in Rome on the 100th anniversary (1912-2012) of Onesti’s birthday.

Earlier that day Rogge will be received by the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano, at the presidential headquarters, Il Quirinale.

He will be accompanied by IOC members Mario Pescante, Ottavio Cinquanta, Franco Carraro, Francesco Ricci Bitti and IOC honorary member and Olympian Italian skier, Manuela Di Centa.

That afternoon he will officially receive the Giulio Onesti award in the CONI main conference hall from Franco Carraro, head of the Onesti Foundation.

A book entitled “Giulio Onesti, lo sport italiano” (Giulio Onesti, Italian Sport) written by Augusto Frasca will also be presented.
