TAMPA: Baku will see the opening of the prestigious five-star Beau-Arts-style Four Seasons hotel next June 15th located on the promenade boulevard next to the Caspian Sea.
The luxurious hotel boasts a penthouse spa and heated indoor pool with a spectacular two story stone-clad atrium and almost all of the 171 guest rooms, including 29 luxury suites, open to a balcony with views of the Caspian Sea or the Old City. Some of the corner suites have distinctive corner turrets, offering rounded rooms with panoramic views. The spa specializes in skincare and body therapies, reflecting ancient traditions from Turkey and Persia.
The Four Seasons joins the lineup of Hilton, Hyatt, Radisson Blu, and JW Marriott Absheron Baku who have recently opened high end hotels in the city.
Guests have the choice of two restaurants Kaspia, serving grill and seafood with a French accent, and Zafferano, saffron a spice that grows abundantly in Azerbaijan, specializing in Italian cuisine. Bentley’s bar offers a club type atmosphere while Piazza is more casual serving light snacks and hot beverages in classic café style.
Baku 2020 Bid CEO Konul Nurullayeva said: “The Four Seasons is the eighth five-star hotel to open in Baku in the past 12 months. By any measure, this is a clear vote of confidence in Azerbaijan’s potential from the world’s very top tourism brands.
Nurullayeva continued: “Brands like the Four Seasons do not just invest millions of dollars on a whim. They will have looked very closely at what is happening in Baku today and have come to the firm conclusion that the city is fast turning into a world-class destination – for business, for tourism and for sport – and they have decided that they want to be a part of that transformation.
“Azerbaijan has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. We are transforming our country, building a knowledge-based economy, focusing on education, sport, science and technology. And it is this transformation that is the driving force behind our Bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020.
“We have come a very long way as a nation in the 20 years since our country’s independence. If we realise our cherished dream of hosting the 2020 Games, we believe that, with the Olympic Movement at our side, together we can take our next great leap forward as a country.”
Baku is running with Doha, Istanbul, Madrid, and Tokyo to host the 2020 summer Games. The final decision will be voted on September 7th at the IOC session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
