TAMPA: Istanbul has racked up positive support from the British Minister of Sport and the Olympics, Hugh Robertson.

Robertson spoke to AA in an exclusive interview and noted on the city’s interesting cultural facet of being of two continents and that the history of the city was possibly more than many British cities.

Paul Deighton, ceo of the London Games, agreed with Robertson and said that he would like to see the Games in Istanbul one day. He also reiterated that the city’s unique point of being a meeting place for two cultures created a perfect venue.

Istanbul is running against Baku, Doha, Madrid and Tokyo to host the summer Games of 2020. The final decision will take place on September 7th at the IOC session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
