MADRID: Today Madrid 2020 bid chief Alejandro Blanco introduced the new team to Mayor Ana Botella in a private presentation at the Town Hall, Palacio de Correos.
Blanco spoke out in the Spanish press affirming that the new Madrid campaign has "the most athletic team" and they are playing to win.
Head of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Blanco will be joined by COE secretary general, Victor Sanchez, and Theresa Zabell for international relations. Zabell won gold medals in sailing for Spain at Barcelona '92 and Atlanta '96.
IOC honorary member Pilar de Borbon was also in attendance at the informal breakfast organized by the City Council.
Newly elected mayor, Ana Botella, has pledged her support for the Madrid 2020 bid and will also become more substancially involved.
Madrid is running against Baku, Doha, Istanbul, Rome, and Tokyo to host the 2020 summer Games.
The city also ran in the 2016 race that had Rio de Janeiro as the winner taking the first Olympics to South America.
