TAMPA: Prince Feisal of Jordan was honored with the prestigious International Association of Sports Press (AIPS) Power of Sport commemorating the work carried out by the Generations For Peace organization. The 75th AIPS Congress is taking place in Innsbruck around the opening of the first winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

The Generations For Peace organization was founded in 2007 and is dedicated to the innovative and sustainable use of sport for peace building and development in areas of conflict. It now supports delegates and certified Generations For Peace Pioneers in 48 countries and territories.

Prince Feisal said, “I am delighted and honoured to receive this AIPS Power of Sport Award on behalf of Generations For Peace and in recognition of all that we and our partners have achieved by harnessing the power of sport to unite conflicted communities.

“Generations For Peace promotes the values of Olympism through all levels of sport domestically and internationally, instilling peace, active tolerance, and responsible citizenship by empowering youth to lead and cascade sustainable change in communities experiencing conflict; so it is highly appropriate that we are receiving this award at the first ever Winter Youth Olympic Games.

“We are very grateful to AIPS for their support in helping to raise awareness of Generations For Peace work and objectives.”

His wife, Princess Sarah Al-Feisal, serves as President of the organization and has contributed to developing the original concept and its transformation from an initiative into a successful organization that has since spread its activities worldwide.

Peace and Sport Patron, Prince Albert II of Monaco, and Italian multi-disciplined Paralympic athlete Fabrizio Macchi also received Power of Sport Awards.

During the duration of the YOG, Prince Feisal will be meeting with a number of existing and potential partners as the Olympic Family gathers at the home of the ’64 and ’76 Games for the new youth event.
