TAMPA: The Procter & Gamble and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have launched the ‘Thank You Mom’ campaign to give back to mothers of athletes to make the Games more accessible.

Procter & Gamble is a TOP Sponsor of the IOC and also plans to raise $5 million to help establish and sustain youth sports programs around the world through donations from their long list of household brands including Pampers(R), Tide(R), Gillette(R) and Pantene(R).

Marc Pritchard, P&G Global Marketing and Brand Building Officer, said, "We believe that behind every athlete is an even more amazing mom.

"P&G is in the business of helping moms. Through our 'Thank You Mom' program we will support not just the moms of Olympic athletes - but every mom who does whatever it takes to make her child's life the best it can be."

IOC President, Dr. Jacques Rogge, "I am delighted to see the strength of P&G's commitment to the Olympic Movement.

"Through its support of mothers of Olympians, P&G is helping athletes. With its support of youth sports, the company is supporting families and is helping to develop athletes every day. It aligns perfectly with the Olympic values."

Gold medal Olympian swimmer, Michael Phelps, is also a Head & Shoulders athlete, said "Sport had a life-changing role in my childhood development.

"As a child, I was diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and I used sport as an outlet for all my energy. Having that outlet positively affected my life outside the pool, too."

Two elite level athletes, Roger Federer, tennis superstar and gold medal Olympian, as well as Paula Radcliffe, world champion marathoner and Olympian, both joined the conference with their testimony about the programs. Radcliffe is sponsored by Fairy and Pampers and Federer has Gillette behind him.

Procter & Gamble’s line up of brands include Pampers, Ariel, Always, Pantene, Fairy, Lenor, Iams, Oral-B, Duracell, Olay, Head & Shoulders, Wella, Gillette, Braun, Fusion, Ace, Febreze and Ambi Pur. They are sold in more than 180 countries.

Pritchard added, "We hope to create a movement to thank moms everywhere, making a difference to youth sports around the globe.”
