TAMPA: The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has launched this year’s special sports travel packages for the Olympic areas and beyond.
After winning the PyeongChang 2018 winter Games the region and the entire country is looking to showcase Korea’s winter sports facilities to boost and open their tourism market.
The Yongpyong Resort is rated by CNN at the top of the premier five ski resorts in Asia. They note “The 3.5-mile Rainbow Paradise is the resort's longest run and can be accessed by a 2-mile gondola that takes visitors up from the base”.
The "Fun, Ski & Snow Festival" and "GoGo Ski Festival," travel package sales plans are set to run from December 15th, 2011 to March 4th, 2012.
Skiing and snowboarding are high on the activities list with lessons from professional instructors as well as an amateur ski and snowboard competition.
The festivals will also have a cultural theme featuring various performances and will offer a chance to experience Korean hanbok (traditional clothes) and the Hallyu Star Photo Zone.
The events, which are jointly held by KTO, Gangwon Province, Yongpyong Resort Ski & Snowboard and High1 Ski Resort, will be offering three-night, four-day travel packages filled with activities out in the snow.
These packages have been extremely popular with international visitors from warmer regions and are a great way to experience winter in Korea for both winter sports enthusiasts and first-timers.
The PyeongChang 2018 winter Olympics will be held in Gangwon between 9 and 25 February 2018.
