Nanjing 2014 to launch Youth Olympics slogan at 1000 day countdown

TAMPA: The Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) organizing committee is set to unveil the official Games’ slogan this Sunday at the 1000 days out point on the countdown.

Qi Lu, deputy secretary-general, spoke out at a press conference saying, "The slogan embodies the Olympic spirit and the themes of Nanjing YOG.

Also announced were plans for a cultural festival and an international sculpture competition twinned with a marathon next week in Shenzhen, Chongqing and Beijing.

"They are part of the cultural and eductional program of Nanjing 2014. We will continue to hold a number of relevant activities in the lead up to the Games as education and culture are key components for the Youth Olympic Games."

Last month the IOC held their second coordination commission visit under the leadership of Alexander Popov, who declared that they were pleased with the preparations progress.

Nanjing is also working closely with Singapore 2010 who hosted the first YOG for exchanges of information and knowledge.
