TAMPA/LONDON: It was a big Paralympic week in London with lots of activities planned around International Paralympic Day (IPD) and a high level Chef de Mission seminar.

A good 108 representatives from National Paralympic Committees (NPC) were in attendance in London to participate in the Chef de Mission seminar and learn all the updates on preparations for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

At the same time tickets went on sale today for the events and 75% of the tickets are £20 or less and 50% are £10 or less making them affordable for general sports fans to cheer on their favorite Paralympians and to enjoy the sports fest.

LOCOG Chair Seb Coe, said, “It’s been a fantastic week of Paralympic activity and I’m glad representatives from National Paralympic Committees were able to come down and enjoy the great atmosphere in Trafalgar Square for International Paralympic Day. People attending the Paralympic Games will see sport like never before.”

The Chef de Mission seminar covered a number of topics including ticketing, accommodation and accreditation and allowed the delegates to attend the IPD day celebrations yesterday that showcased 20 sports on the Paralympic program.

Over 100 athletes from Great Britain and around the world were in town to promote their various sports and rally the spirit for exciting Paralympic Games next year.

IPC chief, Sir Philip Craven, said,  “The excitement for next year's Paralympics has grown massively this week with many of the countries set to compete in 2012 coming together.

“Our Chef de Missions now know what to expect in London and, thanks to a hugely successful International Paralympic Day, the British public also know what to expect when 20 Paralympic Sports are played here in less than a year's time.”

The Paralympics will take place in London from 29 Aug-9 Sept 2012.
