TAMPA/LONDON: The BT British Olympic Ball announced today that Michelin-starred chef, Tom Aikens, has been signed on as executive chef for the event to be held at Kensington Olympia on the 7th of October.

Aikens is the youngest head chef at 26 years of age to be awarded two Michelin stars for his creativity at the Pied à Terre in London featuring French cuisine.

Aikens said, “I feel privileged to have been asked to act as Executive Chef at the BT British Olympic Ball. I’m a big supporter of Team GB and am relishing the opportunity to design a menu for some of Britain’s greatest sporting talent on such a prestigious occasion.”

Last year the event drew a stellar crowd including Prince Harry and equestrian star Zara Phillips, together with a number of British Olympians and sporting heroes.

This year’s event will attract Olympic hopefuls and numerous celebrities from the world of sport and entertainment to enjoy Aiken’s delicacies.

British Olympic Association (BOA) ceo, Andy Hunt, said, “We are all very excited that Tom Aikens will be bringing his culinary expertise to the Ball. He is undoubtedly one of the UK’s most gifted chefs and we are looking forward to seeing what he will create on the night. To have such a great British talent supporting this Team GB event will certainly add a special flavour to the evening.”
