TAMPA, June 10: Korean superstar figure skater Yu-Na Kim will be attending the ANOCA general assembly in Lome, Togo on June 28th to support the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic bid.

This meeting will be the last opportunity for the three bid cities to make presentations and interact with the IOC members specifically from the African continent before they move on to Durban, South Africa for the IOC session and the deciding vote.

The Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) counts 53 national Olympic Committees (NOCs) and is lead by IOC member General Lassana Palenfo and includes IOC executive board member Sam Ramsamy. Ramsamy will be playing host in Durban for the IOC session.

Kim confirmed in an exclusive interview with in Lausanne that bringing the Games to PyeongChang embodies her new Olympic Dream and that she hopes to be able to touch the hearts of young skaters around the world.

She is also part of the PyeongChang 2018 Athletes’ Commission and strongly supports the Gangneung ice skating venue in the coastal cluster.

The Olympian explained: “I have been a member of this great bid team for many months as part of our Athletes Committee and it is special for me to be able to speak directly to the IOC about our unique vision for the Winter Games.

“When we were first bidding for the Winter Games 10 years ago, I was just a little girl with big dreams, hoping to win an Olympic Gold Medal one day. I have achieved that dream and now I hope to help bring the Winter Games to my country and help inspire more young people to take up winter sports.”

Kim will also be present in Durban backing PyeongChang for the final presentation and the vote on July 6th. PyeongChang is competing against Munich and Annecy for the 2018 winter Games and Paralympics.
