TAMPA/RIO DE JANEIRO, June 7: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) coordination commission is carrying out its second site visit overseeing the works of the Rio 2016 Games for three days in the host city of the first South American Games.

The meeting is being chaired by IOC executive board member and Olympian, Nawal El Moutawakel, and includes Gilbert Felli, IOC Olympic Games director, and members representing all five continents.

The three day program will include briefings and site visits to the venues to view the works in progress.

The commission members include Alex Gilady (ISR), Alexander Popov (RUS), Beatrice Allen (GAM), Ching-Kuo Wu (TPE), Francesco Ricci Bitti (ITA), Greg Hartung (AUS), Gunilla Lindberg (SWE), John D. Coates (AUS), Julio César Maglione (URU), Nat Indrapana (THA), Nicole Hoevertsz (ARU), Patrick Joseph Hickey (IRL), Sergey Bubka (UKR), Timothy Tsun Ting Fok (HKG) and Willi Kaltschmitt Luján (GUA).

Also member Richard L. Carrión (PUR) is currently in Lausanne as he was involved as lead negotiator with the auction of the IOC American TVrights which were landed today by NBC for a record $US4.38bn.

The broadcasting rights for Rio 2016 went for $1.226bn in the breakdown of the overall figure.

The Rio 2016 team will fill the commission in on updates about  a number of areas of preparations including venue and infrastructure construction, sport, National Olympic Committee (NOC) services, marketing, brand, and planning and coordination.
