LONDON, May 28: Royalty of all sorts will be teaming up at London 2012 for Samsung Electronics after Zara Phillips signed up as a 'Games ambassador' for the TOP sponsor which recently also contracted David Beckham.

Phillips, a former world and European three-day event champion and daughter of IOC member Princess Anne, will be involved in a string of across-the-board activities at next year's Olympics including advertising, marketing, multi-platform public relations and social media campaigns.

She said: “I’m delighted to become a Games ambassador for Samsung and looking forward to helping more people actively participate and be part of London 2012. Technology plays such a huge part in helping deliver the Games to the fans."

David Song, managing director for Samsung UK, said the company was excited about bringing Phillips on board not only because of past achievements but her continuing hope of being selected to compete for Britain at the Games.

Former England captain Beckham - considered by his fans as 'football royalty' - signed up earlier this month as a global ambassador for Samsung for London 2012.

Phillips, riding Toytown, won individual and team gold at the 2005 world eventing championship at Blenheim and then individual gold and team silver medals at the 2006 world equestrian games in Aaachen. She added team gold to her honours at the 2007 European championships in Italy but was unable to compete at the Beijing Olympics after Toytown was injured in training.

Last December she announced her engagement to Mike Tindall, the Gloucester and England rugby player whom she met during England's Rugby World Cup-winning campaign in Australia in 2003. They marry on July 30 in Edinburgh.
