TAMPA/PYEONGCHANG, May 27: SportsFeatures.com caught up with newly elected Governor Moon-Soon Choi of the Gangwon Province to hear about his plans for this next month to help promote the PyeongChang 2018 bid.

There now are only a crucial 40 days left in the 2018 winter Games campaigns and all three bid cities are busy taking advantage of the last month to promote their final presentations and do their lobbying.

Choi said, “On Olympic Day, there will be a 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic bid wish marathon organized by the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC). And the members of the “DongSaMo (People Who Love Winter Sports Group – PyeongChang bid support group)” and other citizens who support the bid will participate in the event.”

“I will do my best to promote and foster our dreams of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic bid. Until the announcement of the final vote, I will organize and publicize various events that will reinforce the desire of winning the bid by the people.”

Following his debut at the IOC technical briefing in Lausanne last week, Governor Choi wanted to emphasize his committed support for the PyeongChang 2018 bid.

“I will do my best as the Governor of Gangwon for the success of the bid. My overall impression was good, but this doesn’t mean we take it for granted. The 2018 winter Olympic bid is a competition we “must win”, so we will prepare everything to our best of our ability until July 6th.”

“During the Lausanne Technical Briefing, IOC members and the foreign press were interested to know about the influence of the change of governors.  So I made certain to assure everyone of Gangwon Province’s full support of the bid.”

PyeongChang is bidding for the third time in this 2018 bid race against Munich and Annecy for the winter Games. The final decision will be held July 6th at the IOC session in Durban, South Africa.
