TAMPA/ANNECY, May 27: With 40 days and counting the Annecy 2018 bid for the winter Games receives a boost from tennis star Jo-Wilfried Tsonga competing these days at the French Tennis Open.

Tsonga says, “The Olympic Games represent the ultimate dream for every athlete. Personally, I would love to have that experience. Meanwhile, I’m supporting Annecy 2018 more than ever down the home stretch. Our project would bring the Olympic Games a magical setting for a sporting competition designed by and for athletes.

“As an athlete, there's no greater dream than taking part in the event.  I'm sure I'd have goose bumps seeing the French Olympic team competing on these slopes and ice rinks in 2018!”

Around 600 athletes are supporting Annecy 2018 including Zinédine Zidane and Arsène Wenger from the world of football, track athlete Marie-José Perec, and NBA San Antonio Spurs’ star Tony Parker just to name a few.

Annecy is competing against Munich and PyeongChang to host the 2018 winter Games and Paralympics. The final vote will take place in little over a month on July 6th at the IOC session in Durban, South Africa.
