LAUSANNE/TAMPA, May 26: had a chance to talk to Yu-Na Kim after the Lausanne IOC technical briefing to get her impressions on visiting the Olympic headquarters for the first time.

Lobbying was a priority so she didn’t have very much free time as she was totally dedicated to working for the PyeongChang 2018 bid and trying to meet and visit with as many IOC members as possible. But she hopes to come back and have the chance for a leisurely visit.

Kim said, “Actually this was the first time that I have come to Switzerland and it is so cool to be in the Olympic Museum. I didn’t have enough time to walk around and see things, but I hope to come back.”

The Olympic Museum is full of memorabilia donated from athletes from around the world and we asked her if she had any plans to donate something to the museum in the future.

“I haven’t thought about giving something to the Museum but it would be an honor for me,” she confirmed.

She also said that she had a chance to meet IOC President, Dr. Jacques Rogge, and shake hands and that she had met him before during her skating competitions.

Most interestingly she also had the opportunity to meet fellow gold medal skater Katarina Witt who is chair of the rival Munich 2018 bid.

“I met Katarina this afternoon and she told me congratulations about my skating.”

Kim also talked about preparing for the bid presentation and studying the technical details.

“I didn’t have a lot of time to practice because I was in Russia for the World Championship competitions, then I did a show in Korea after that. I had a week in Korea to practice. But I practiced the rehearsals very hard here and everyone was helping me to do well.”

Kim has confirmed that she will be in Durban,  South Africa so that she can support PyeongChang 2018 for the final vote on July 6th at the IOC session.
