LAUSANNE, May 18: Gold medal figure skater Yu-na Kim is making her first trip to the Olympic headquarters and talked exclusively with SportsFeatures.com about her aspirations for the PyeongChang 2018 bid and her new Olympic Dream.

PyeongChang is running against Munich and Annecy in the race to host the 2018 Olympic winter Games.

How is the bid part of your personal Olympic Dream?

Yu-Na Kim: I fulfilled one Olympic dream by winning a Gold Medal in Vancouver. Now I have a new dream to help PyeongChang win the right to host the Winter Games in 2018.

It would be so special for me to have the chance to host the Winter Games in Korea and have the opportunity to compete at home, welcome athletes from around the world and importantly, encourage more people to participate in winter sports

How would you envision using your star power to promote the sport of skating to the youth?

Yu-Na Kim: Figure skating has been my passion since I was a little girl and it would be a dream come true to see the Winter Games come to Korea, my home country.

It would be an honour for me to help promote figure skating to young people around the world, and particularly Asia

What is your personal take on the ice skating facilities in Gangneung and how great the bid would be for the athletes?

Yu-Na Kim: I recently had the chance to visit Gangneung and the excellent facilities they have there.

It gives me great pleasure to be part of PyeongChang 2018’s Athletes Committee and help with the development of the Winter Games Plan to ensure convenience, comfort and a great setting for outstanding athletic performances in 2018.
