LONDON, May 06: Tickets to top events at London 2012 will be provided free of charge to the families of victims of the terrorist attack on the London travel network which killed 52 people on July 7, 2005.

The decision, by Mayor Boris Johnson, came on the same day that the official inquest into the deaths was brought to a conclusion with a verdict of "unlawful killing." The terror came came the day after London had been awarded the 2012 Games by the IOC in Singapore.

Johnson - following through on a concept raised by mayoral predecessor Ken Livingsgone - said that up to four family or friends of each of the 52 dead will receive tickets. A further four tickets will be offered to each of the 39 people seriously injured during the bombings. The scheme should cost about £100,000.

Victims will share a total of 364 tickets for the most in-demand events, such as the Opening Ceremony and major finals in athletics and swimming.
