TAMPA/AMMAN, May 05: The Generations For Peace institute in Jordan was officially opened by King Abdullah II of Jordan together with many members of the Jordanian royal family and Jordanian Government.

IOC president Jacques Rogge and a whole list of dignitaries from the United Nations, the University of Oxford, and Georgetown University were present for the opening. Also present were 100 local schoolchildren representing the organisation’s key demographic

Also to commemorate the day the organization announced a new partnership with the University of Oxford and the King Abdullah II of Jordan Generations For Peace Scholarship plus a Research Grants Programme for Oxford graduate students supporting field research programmes.

This is similar to the another partnership they share with the world-renowned Conflict Resolution Programme at Georgetown University in Washington DC.

The King’s brother, Prince Feisal, who is the founder of Generations For Peace, said, “As we work towards our vision of being the world’s leading institute dedicated to sport for peace and development, we are building a community of practice that links the best academic minds in the world across different disciplines with each other and with practitioners working in the field, so that they are better equipped to make a real difference to people’s lives. This is what makes our new partnership with the University of Oxford so important”.

The Generations For Peace Institute was established last year as the research branch of the organization.

It is targeted to serve the wider sport for peace and development community by attracting new people and investors, investing in cutting-edge interdisciplinary research and innovation, providing a central platform for sharing knowledge and best practices, delivering training, and supporting education programmes in other institutions.

The ceo of the Generations For Peace organization, Princess Sarah Al-Feisal, noted, “Generations For Peace Pioneers are ordinary young men and women doing extraordinary things to overcome conflict and make a real difference in their communities.

"The Institute’s new partnership with the University of Oxford strengthens our ability to promote learning and exchanges across a community of practice which enables these inspirational change makers to achieve and demonstrate even greater impact and sustainability.”
