LAURA WALDEN / Sports Features Communications

LONDON, Apr 4: SportsFeatures.com is taking an indepth look at all three 2018 bid cities from an overall logistics of the Olympic area point of view.

Munich's bid plan is centered around the legacy of the '72 summer Games held there in the Olympic Park. The secondary area is located 92km away (approximately one hour and ten minutes) at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, also home of the '36 winter Games. There is a third satellite sliding venue at Königssee 167km and two hours ten minutes from the main Munich hub.

The Munich area will host ice sports figure skating, ice hockey, speed skating, short track and curling. The Garmisch-Partenkirchen area will host alpine skiing, ski jumping, biathlon, freestyle, ski cross, snowboard, and nordic combined. Königssee will stage bobsleigh, luge and skeleton.
