TAMPA/SOCHI, Mar 21: The IOC coordination commission will be holding its fifth inspection visit this week for the Sochi 2014 winter Games March 21-23 in the Russian resort area of Krasnaya Polyana.

This same region will be home to the snow and sliding events during the Games and recently held the FIS Europa Cup for men’s and women’s Alpine skiing.

The commission, led by Jean Claude Killy, will be meeting with the organizers and stakeholders discussing technical points combined with site visits to be updated on the progress.

They will also be studying Games operations, services and event experience for the athletes, NOCs, IFs, the media and the general public. A working group will be briefed on progress for the Paralympic Games too.

Jean-Claude Killy was recently involved last month with the 2018 IOC Evaluation Commission visit to Annecy, France.

Several of the Sochi commission members were wearing double hats from the 2018 Evaluation Commission such as chair Gunilla Lindberg, Japanese NOC president Tsunekazu Takeda and Gilbert Felli, Olympic Games Executive Director.

All three inspected the three bid cities of Annecy, PyeongChang and Munich and just met in Lausanne for three days concluding their final meeting in preparation of the highly anticipated report due out May 10th before the 2018 candidate cities briefing taking place a week later.

The Sochi 2014 commission will conclude with a press conference on Wednesday afternoon with more details about the visit.
