Munich 2018 starts Durban countdown as IOC evaluation commission flies in

LONDON/MUNICH, Feb 27: Munich's bid team hoping to impress the International Olympic Committee this week is working against the clock - one set up at the HQ of sponsor BMW and ticking towards decision-day in Durban on July 6.
The clock was unveiled over the weekend to count down the final days, hours and minutes until the moment when the IOC decides between Annecy, PyeongChang and Munich which became, Sunday night, the last of the three to welcome the evaluation committee headed by Gunilla Lindberg.
The clock, outside Munich’s Olympic Park, is 14m long and 4m high and unveiled with the help of sports personalities including Munich 2018 sports ambassador and world bobsleigh champion Susi Erdmann, Davis Cup tennis coach Patrik Kühnen and top tennis player Philipp Kohlschreiber.
