ANNECY/TAMPA, Jan 10: The Annecy 2018 bid made great strides today confirming both a new president and ceo and by sending a special envoy  team including champion ambassadors to consign the final bid file at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne.

New bid leader Charles Beigbeder was elected president today by the supervisory board and French prefect Pierre Mirabaud has come on board  as the new CEO filling the position left open by the departure of Edgar Grospiron last month. Beigbeder will also be flanked by two great ski champions serving as vice-presidents, Jean-Pierre Vidal and Pernilla Wiberg, Swedish Olympian and a strong supporter of the French bid.

The 46 year old businessman and entrepreneur, Beigbeder was thrilled to take up the challenge "to be involved in this tremendous project, with a will to unite the efforts of one and all around one supreme ambition: to host the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games!"

A prestigious delegation of French champions including Jean-Pierre Vidal, Florence Masnada, Antoine Deneriaz, Perrine Pelen, Gwendal Peizerat and Denis Barbet, together with Annecy mayor, Jean-Luc Rigaut, and CNOSF head, Denis Masseglia, officially consigned the Annecy 2018 bid file to the IOC.

Annecy mayor Rigaut said, "This 450-page document, the fruit of long months of hard work by a tremendous team of athletes and experts, is a summary of all the strengths our project has to offer! A whole host of strengths which we will be actively promoting between now and July 6th.

New leader Beigbeder graduated as an aerospace engineer, has a background in investment banking and founded France's first online investment brokerage. In 2002 he created Poweo which quickly became the number one independent player on the French gas and electricity market and has keen interests in green energy. He is also Senior Vice-President of the French Radical Party, Paris federation.

 Today a press conference was held to make the announcement including Chantal Jouanno, Minister for Sports, Jean-Luc Rigaut, Mayor of Annecy, Denis Masseglia, Chairman of the French NOC, Jean-Jack Queyranne, President of the Rhône-Alpes Region, Christian Monteil, President of the Haute-Savoie General Council, Sophie Dion, adviser to the French President, Guy Drut, French IOC member, Charles Beigbeder and Jean-Pierre Vidal plus numerous other high level supporters of the bid.

Annecy will be the first city to host the IOC evaluation commission February 9-12 then they will move on to PyeongChang from the 16-19 and Munich March 1-4 then prepare their crucial report for the IOC.

The final vote will be July 6th in Durban, South Africa at the IOC session.
