World Cup season going strong at Annecy 2018 proposed venues

TAMPA/ANNECY, Dec 22 : The proposed venues for the Annecy 2018 bid were center stage last weekend for a number of elite level skiing events.

La Clusaz, the posposed venue for the cross-country skiing and Nordic combined events, hosted the cross-country skiing world cup. The women’s events including the 55th Critérium de la Première neige took place in Val d’Isère with the Super-G and Combined events.

The Annecy bid plan comprises many facilities in that the Savoie Mont Blanc region with optimal racing conditions.

Antoine Dénériaz, Olympic downhill champion and Annecy 2018 Sports Ambassador, said, “La Clusaz never fails to charm with its typical alpine architecture at the heart of the mountains and its internationally renowned slopes.  Winter sports athletes are always delighted to compete in this welcoming environment, on nature’s playing field.

“Competitors know they can always count on racing conditions in Savoie Mont Blanc, » he affirmed.

These events coincided with other campetitions being held in La Plagne, Val d’Isère and Meribel and reinforce the region’s capacities in the heart of the French Alps.

Annecy is in the bid race against Munich and PyeongChang to host the 2018 winter Olympics.  The decision will be voted next July 6th in Durban, South Africa at the IOC session.
