2018 Winter Games rivals put their cases to European Olympic assembly

BELGRADE, Nov. 26: The European Olympic Committees are convening in Belgrade, Serbia for their annual general assembly and the three 2018 bid cities are poised to make presentations to one of the most powerful continental organizations in the Olympic Movement.

The EOC, chaired by IOC member Patrick Hickey and secretary general Raffaele Pagnozzi, is one of the most influential groups due to the composite of the members. Two of the candidates for the 2018 winter Games are based in Europe and will be addressing their own continental colleagues.

IOC President Dr Jacques Rogge, together with other top IOC officials, is in attendance attentively following the proceedings of the organization that he used to chair.

The first Youth Olympic Games organizers will deliver a report on the edition held this summer in Singapore.

The EOC is also set to hear updates from the upcoming Games of London 2012 and Sochi 2014 and here again for the next two editions the organizers are also located in Europe.

The assembly will also hear updates about the next edition of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) that will take place in Innsbruck, Austria in 2012 and will be the first winter edition. The next summer edition of the YOG will be in Nanjing, China in 2014.

Within the assembly the 49 NOCs will be voting on the host of the upcoming European Youth Olympic Festivals (EYOF) in 2015. The EYOF was the original model for the YOG following the successful growth in Europe of the youth event.

The next two winter and summer editions of Liberec (CZE) for winter and Trabzon (TUR) for summer will be addressing the delegates. And the 2013 editions of Brasov (ROU) and Utretch (NED).

The meetings will be running through the 26th and 27th at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Belgrade.
