ACAPULCO/PYEONGCHANG, Oct 25: The PyeongChang 2018 bid can count on the support of one more significant sponsorship deal with the Nonghyup company, Korea’s National Agricultural Cooperative Federation.
Bid chair Yang Ho Cho, said, “I would like to express my thanks to Nonghyup for adding their support to the bid. Following PyeongChang 2018’s presentation at ANOC last week, we will look to continue our work in spreading the values of the Olympic Movement to a new, young and dynamic generation in Asia.”
Nonghyup has committed to KRW 1 billion (approx. $890,000) to support the Korean bid for the winter Games and Byung-seok Hahm, President of Nonghyup’s Gangwon Division, just delivered a check today to the bid for KRW 500 million (approx. $445,000).
Hahm said: “On behalf of Nonghyup, I would like to present this donation to PyeongChang 2018 to support their campaign to host the Winter Games. To host the 2018 Winter Games in the Gangwon Province would bring immense pride to the region and would bring a number of benefits to the local economy and its people.”
PyeongChang is competing against Munich and Annecy in the bid race for the 2018 winter Games. The final decision is set to be voted July 6th 2011 in Durban, South Africa.
