ACAPULCO, Oct 20: The Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) under the leadership of Mario Vazquez Rana welcomed the 205 NOCs, IF officials and the Olympic Family to the bi-annual meeting in Acapulco. This marks one of the largest gatherings of the Olympic Family.

Every two years the ANOC assembly takes place to discuss and get updates from the upcoming organizing committees, the 2018 bidding cities, the executive boards of ANOC and the IOC, and to focus on the needs and business of running the national Olympic committees.

This year a brand new initiative will be launched as the first World Sport Olympic Convention is set to take place on October 23rd at the Fairmont Princess Hotel.

The week’s meetings will then include the IOC executive board on October 24-26th which will be the last one of the year.

The next ANOC gathering of this dimension will be in London in 2012.
