MONTE CARLO, Oct 11: Korean Air unveiled the winning design for the second edition of the aircraft design contest. The theme this year was PyeongChang 2018 in honor of the Korean Bid.
Ten year old Yeon-wook Kang got to see his winning artwork painted on one of Korean Air’s Boeing 777-200 aircraft. The third grader won the contest with over 300 entrants from all over Korea. The special edition plane will be used for domestic and international routes.
Korean Air chairman and bid ceo, Yang Ho Cho, said, “This artistic competition is one of many activities taking place around Korea that will engage young people with our bid.
“PyeongChang 2018 is committed to encouraging young people to participate in sport, in particular winter sports. This new aircraft design will help to raise awareness of our bid to host the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and promote the Olympic spirit around the world.”
PyeongChang is running against Annecy and Munich in the race to host the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The final decision will take place in July at the IOC session in Durban, South Africa.
