PYEONGCHANG, Aug 20: Local religious leaders have added their weight to support for PyeongChang's bid to overcome competition from Annecy and Munich in the race to win host rights to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.
The International Olympic Committee takes a decision in Durban next July but members of the Religion Peace Council in Gangwon hope the vote will go the Korean way.
The Rev. Chul Lee, co-representative of the council and chairman of the Gangwon Christian Society, said: “Sport is a great way to achieve peace and harmony, and it is has the amazing potential to bring people from different backgrounds together.
"The members of the Council are united in support of this bid, and we hope that PyeongChang will realize its ambition."
The vote for the 2018 winter Games host city will take place in Durban, South Africa in July 2011 at the IOC session.
