PARIS, Aug 17: Annecy is continuing to ensure that all the strengths of the region, its people and organisations and being brought on board the bid to win hosting rights to the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

One such organisation is the 189-year-old Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix (Chamonix Mountain Guide Society) whose 86th annual festival marked the launch of a Mont Blanc Skiing and Guiding Society.

This new project brings together Chamonix ski schools with the CGC which should thus be able to call on 740 professionals, all sharing the sporting, economic and environmental values at the heart of the Annecy bid.

Annecy is bidding against Germany's Munich and South Korea's PyeongChang to win host rights to 2018; the International Olympic Committee makes up its mind in Durban next July.
