TAMPA/PYEONGCHANG, Aug 10: The PyeongChang 2018 winter Games bid has launched their new website with graceful superstar gold medal figure skater Yu-Na Kim doing a few turns to greet visitors. The new site places emphasis on athlete and domestic support and the new campaign slogan ‘New Horizons’.
CEO Yang Ho Cho said: “As we build momentum through the Candidate City phase of the bid campaign, we want to share our vision and show PyeongChang’s commitment, dedication and passion for hosting great Olympic Winter Games in 2018.
“We are pleased to launch our new website today and to showcase our New Horizons campaign theme, which we will bring to life in the months ahead, as we seek to demonstrate how this bid offers exciting new opportunities for Olympic Winter Sports across our region and amongst the next generation.”
The site now displays the bid in three languages Korean, English and French and is easy to navigate the various sections.
The Korean bid has strong support from the national population and from the Korean athletes. Bringing the Olympics to the Gangwon Province would make significant contribution to the growth of winter sports on the Asian continent.
PyeongChang is a rapidly growing area for year round tourism and is a big attraction for the youthful market.
The Alpensia Resort area is now fully open and operational and has already been hosting a very successful Great Mountains International Music Festival at the Alpensia Concert Hall through August 10, 2010.
PyeongChang is in the 2018 bid race with Annecy, France and Munich, Germany to host the winter Games. The final decision will be voted at the IOC session July 6, 2011 in Durban, South Africa.
