TAMPA/ANNECY, July 30: Gwladys Nocera took time out at the Evian Masters golf tournament to express her heartfelt support for the Annecy bid to host the 2018 winter Olympic Games.

Nocera was in the Savoie Mont Blanc region for the Evian Masters and took time out to discuss and meet with Florence Masnada and ceo Edgar Grospiron to express her support.

The former European number one and “Player of the Year" in 2008, is obviously a passionate supporter of golf joining the 2016 Olympic programme and the Games in general. That same year she had the lowest score in the history of the European circuit: 29 under par in the Göteborg Masters. Currently she is participating in the LPGA tour in America and the the LET (European circuit).

Nocera said, "The Olympic and Paralympic Games are in a league of their own. Hosting the Games in France, in Annecy, would give a fantastic boost to French sport."

"Organising great international sporting events like the Evian Masters in France gives French sport a boost. Whatever the discipline, it is always an amazing experience for an athlete to take part in a major competition in front of their home crowd. These large-scale events ignite people's passion and encourage the public to participate in sporting activities."

Ceo and Olympian, Edgar Grospiron, welcomed her aboard the team, "Annecy's Bid is extremely proud to be able to bring together this group of champions, not just those who practise winter sports. After Christophe Lemaître expressed his support to the Bid last week, this new mobilization shows once again that France's entire sporting community is behind Annecy 2018!"

The lovely picturesque village of Annecy is known as the Venice of the Alps located on spring fed Lake Annecy. The lake is known as the cleanest in Europe and provides a serene setting for the little medieval village town.

Located in the heart of winter sports country the destination is very close to neighboring Italy and Switzerland.

Annecy is in the bid race to host the 2018 winter Olympics running against Munich and PyeongChang. The final selection will be decided in July 2011 at the IOC session in Durban, South Africa.
