ANNECY, May 12: The Annecy 2018 Bid for the winter Games announced a new key partnership with ERDF Annecy Leman (the French Electrical Distribution Network).

Bid Ceo Edgar Grospiron said: “ERDF, a national company, has invested in the candidature at a local level with ERDF Annecy Leman. This support is important for the bid as it shows that through the passion of the regional population, Annecy 2018 is the candidate for all of France in the organization of the 2018 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games”.

The ERDF company manages the electrical distribution for the entire Haute-Savoie and neighboring regions. They are very involved in the development of renewable energies and are working on programs for energy efficiency and lowering energy consumption.

Jean-Pierre Vidal, is chairman of the Annecy 2018 sustainable development advisory group and a former Olympic Slalom Champion at the Salt Lake City Games of 2002.

Vidal says, “This signature is a strong point for our positive footprint concept in the region. This company’s approach is similar to our bid and the development of renewable energy in our resorts and our region.”

Christian Monteil, chair of the bid’s supervisory board, noted, “By bringing ERDF Annecy Leman into the marketing program, Annecy 2018 shows that large French companies and the economic world back this national project.”

Annecy is in the bidding race with Munich and PyeongChang to win the vote to host the 2018 winter Games. The decision will take place in July 2011 at the IOC Session in Durban, South Africa.
