BEIJING, Aug. 22: Nearly one year after the closing ceremonies of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games the official organizing committee offices have been disbanded and closed.

The Beijing Olympic Games were held last year from August 8-24 and the Beijing vice-mayor and BOCOG executive vice president, Liu Jingmin, made the announcement of the official end of the organizing committee in a commemorative ceremony held today.

Beijing won the vote to host the 2008 Olympic Games in July 2001 at the IOC session in Moscow, Russia and the organizing committee was established in December of that year.

At the closing last year International Olympic Committee President Dr. Jacques Rogge, declared the Games "truly exceptional". Turning to the future we have just passed the three years out mark by almost a month as the London Olympics will be held 27 July-12 Aug 2012.
