LAUSANNE: Meetings are being held this week at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne to further the bid campaigns of the 2016 bid cities and sports. An intense week of lobbying will be taking place with so many voting members gathering in one place.

The IOC Executive Board meets on the 15-16 and today the seven sports vying for a place on the summer Games program will be presenting their campaigns to the board.

The EB will then study and put forth suggestions as to the sports to be voted on for the 2016 program. A decision on the ones to be put forward is expected by mid-August. The seven sports of baseball, golf, karate, roller sports, rugby, softball, and squash are all looking for a place on the roster.

On the 17-18 the bid cities will be delivering presentations to the entirety of the IOC membership and be on hand to do a serious round of lobbying prior to the gathering for the final vote in Copenhagen in October. The cities of Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo are all bidding to host the summer Games.
