LAUSANNE, Jun 12: Isabel Swan brings a medal gloss to Rio de Janeiro’s team preparing to state the city’s 2016 case to an International Olympic Committee Briefing in Lausanne next week.

Rio is one of four cities now entering the closing stage of the contest to win host rights, along with Chicago, Madrid and Tokyo.

Swan, who sailed to bronze in the 470 class in Beijing last year, has been rehearsing with this week near Lausanne with colleagues being led by bid president Carlos Arthur Nuzman who is also an IOC member.

Also on ‘Team Rio’ are Carlos Roberto Osorio (bid secretary-general), Henrique Meirelles (president of Brazil’s Central Bank), Sergio Cabral (governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro), Eduardo Paes (Mayor) and Agberto Guimarães (director of sport).

The team will present the bid’s technical plans for the Olympic and Paralympic Games on Monday and host an exhibition area the following day for accredited participants and media.

Nuzman said: “We are in an important phase of the campaign and the presentation in Lausanne is a key moment for all candidate cities. Our delegation is well-prepared and its composition demonstrates the commitment of the three levels of government to the bid and the solid guarantees which ensure delivery of every aspect of our proposal.

“The support and dedication we have witnessed this past week in our final preparations from everyone involved makes us confident about the presentation in Lausanne.”
