RIO DE JANEIRO: Members of the IOC Evaluation Commission were met at Tom Jobim International airport by the bid team and young fans as they landed for phase three of the 2016 bid city tour.

The 13 member team will be in Rio all week to learn about Rio’s proposal for the first South American Games and gather notes and impressions for the final report. Presentations will be taking place at the Copacabana Palace Hotel with a venue tour scheduled for Friday May 1 around the city.

After Chicago, Tokyo, and now Rio, Madrid will be the next and final city on the list then the commission will carry out an extended review of each city’s qualifications to put forth to the IOC executive board and members. Voting for the 2016 city will take place in Copenhagen October 2nd at the upcoming IOC session.

Rio proved the city's hosting abilities with successful 2007 Pan American Games apart from many other high profile events.

The upcoming 2014 World Soccer Cup to be hosted in Brazil will be yet another opportunity for the upgrading of the accommodations, security and transportation systems. And this would prove a good preview event for the Olympic Games should the IOC decide this time around to vote for Brazil.
