TBILSI: Gia Natsvlishvili is new president of the Georgian National Olympic Committee after winning the election on a 98-28 vote. The new president has already started working on constructing his executive committee to gather many prominent Georgian sports personalities.

Other candidates running for the election were Levan Akhvlediani and Bejan Khourtsidze while Kakha Basilia and Leri Khabalovi both withdrew from the campaign before the elections.

The Georgian National Olympic Committee is one of the neighbour NOCs to Russia whose Black Sea resort of Sochi - less than 20 miles from the Georgian border - will host the 2014 winter Games.
