Tokyo triathlon flames Olympic spirit

TOKYO: Japanese sports fans poured into the streets to celebrate the 14th triathlon national championships, looking to taste the Olympic atmosphere which the 2016 bid could bring to the city.
Sunday's championships were staged at Odaiba in Tokyo Bay in central Tokyo and the nation’s top triathletes competed in areas chosen for the proposed 2016 Musubi Cluster which would comprise the Olympic Stadium and other competition venues as well as the Olympic Village.
The Tokyo bid envisions highly compact and environmentally friendly venues. Some 95pc would be within an eight –kilometre radius from central Tokyo.
