LAUSANNE: Two Belarusian hammer medalists - Vadim Deviatovskiy, silver, and Ivan Tsikhan, bronze - will now have until October 17 to submit ulterior information after their August 17 positive testosterone tests at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

The IOC disciplinary commission, comprising IOC members Thomas Bach (chairman), Denis Oswald and Gerhard Heiberg, met today at headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland to decide the fate for three pending doping cases.

This incidence marks the second apparent violation for 31-year-old Deviatovskiy, who tested positive in Sydney and served a two-year ban between 2000 and 2002. If found guilty a second time he would receive a lifetime ban.

For 32-year-old Tsikan this would be the first offence for the silver medallist (Athens 2004) and former three-time world champion.

If found guilty the pair will be disqualified and obliged to hand in their medals. Deviatovskiy’s silver would pass to Hungarian Krisztian Pars and Tsikhan’s bronze to Koji Murofushi from Japan.

The third case of Polish kayaker, Adam Seroczynski, who finished fourth in the kayak double (K2) 1000m event and tested positive for anabolic agent clenbuterol, will be ruled on October 8. The 34-year-old Seroczynski won bronze in Sydney in 2000 in the K4 competition.

The IOC undertook more than 5,000 doping tests at the Beijing Games and has already disqualified six athletes for doping offences.
