NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOINS CONVENTION

LAUSANNE, Switzerland - SportAccord Convention announced today that Nis Hatt has been appointed to the position of Managing Director. He will assume his new role as of June 1. Until then, Anna Hellman, the current Executive Director, will continue in her role and will manage preparations for the upcoming 2012 SportAccord Convention in Québec City from May 20-25. Mrs Hellman will be leaving SportAccord Convention following the 10th annual event (the eighth of her tenure).

“It is fitting that Anna will be completing her tenure by delivering the 10th anniversary edition of the event," said SportAccord Convention Chairman Hein Verbruggen. "Anna will continue in her current role through SportAccord Convention 2012 and Nis will be coming on board in the meantime to work alongside Anna and facilitate the knowledge transfer process. Preparations for the event in Québec City are going extremely well and this 10th anniversary edition will provide Nis with a fantastic introduction.”

Mr Hatt starts at SportAccord Convention on February 1 and will work in parallel with Mrs. Hellman. He joins after more than 14 years of managing global meetings and events for some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies latest as Global Head of events for F. Hoffmann-La Roche Inc.

“SportAccord Convention has become established as the premier business gathering in the world of sport,” he said. “I am excited as well as honored to be taking on the responsibility for continuing the high standard of excellence achieved over the years by Anna and the SportAccord Convention team and further develop new ways to support our stakeholders and their partners.”

The 2012 SportAccord Convention, the first to take place in Canada, will be held at the Québec City Convention Centre from May 20-25, 2012. Previous editions of the annual event have been sold out and delegates and press are encouraged to register early at http://www.sportaccordconvention.com.
