MANATEE—Most Manatee County kids probably don’t know young tennis pro Alexus Jones yet, but they might in the future.
Alexus, 14, who lives and trains at Bradenton’s IMG Academies and has a 115-mph tennis serve, wants to be a role model to hundreds of Manatee County urban kids in the coming years.
Alexus, who trains six hours a day, six days a week and has her own tennis trading card, has agreed to be part of The Panda Project, a new program that will offer free tennis lessons starting in mid-January 2012 for any child ages 6 through 10 in Manatee.
